AND THEN THERE WAS SILENCE
God Has Spoken.

About
God has spoken. Christ is the fulfillment of His revelation. The Spirit shepherds the heart. The path reflects His glory.
And Then There Was Silence is a body of biblical formation resources written under the name Ophel, created to serve believers, families, and local churches by helping readers behold God in His Word, see Christ more clearly, have the heart shepherded by truth, and walk faithfully for His glory.
It is not a church and is not intended to function as a separate parachurch ministry. These resources are offered simply to strengthen believers in the life of the local church and to encourage faithful reading, worship, discipleship, and service beneath the authority of Scripture.
God Has Spoken.
Everything begins here. The Holy Scriptures are the inspired, infallible, inerrant, sufficient, and authoritative self-revelation of God. Every doctrine, conviction, devotional, commentary, study, and future work produced beneath the banner of And Then There Was Silence must bow beneath the authority of the Word of God.
No framework governs Scripture. Scripture governs every framework. Where Scripture speaks, we submit. Where Scripture corrects us, we yield.
Our Aim
And Then There Was Silence exists to lead people into reverent awe before God through the faithful exposition of His Word.
The purpose is never information alone.
It is worship.
It is formation.
It is communion.
It is Christ.
And through Him, the glory of God.

The Movement Beneath the Work
Weight
God reveals Himself through His truth. The soul first stands beneath the weight of who He is.
Heart
The Holy Spirit shepherds the inner life as truth is received, believed, loved, and Christ becomes clearer.
Path
A life abiding in Christ bears visible fruit in wisdom, joyful obedience, and a walk that reflects His glory.
WHP is not the foundation. Scripture is.
One Work. Distinct Expressions.
The different forms of ATTWS are not separate ministries or organizations. They are distinct expressions of one work of biblical formation resources, each with its own audience, tone, structure, and purpose.

Contemplative Scripture meditation intended to awaken reverent worship.
Children’s Devotionals
Clear, warm, Christ-centered truth for young hearts and families.

About the Writer
The resources of And Then There Was Silence are written under the name Ophel. The writer holds a bachelor’s degree in theology and has served in evangelism and other areas of Christian ministry. Those experiences have provided opportunities for study, teaching, preaching, and service—but they are not presented here as the authority behind these resources.
The authority is the Word of God.
Scripture does not receive its weight from the education, position, or reputation of the one handling it. The responsibility of the writer is to study faithfully, interpret carefully, remain teachable, and willingly yield every conclusion to the text of Scripture.
There was also a painful season in which personal sin altered the course of the writer’s public ministry. That history is not hidden, nor is this work an attempt to recover a former position or platform. It is the labor of a man who has known both failure and mercy, who now serves within his local church, and who desires to use what God has entrusted to him to encourage believers toward Christ and His Word.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15
These resources should therefore never be received because of the writer’s name, education, or experience. They should be weighed by Scripture. Where they faithfully explain the Word, receive the truth. Where they fail to do so, Scripture must prevail.
A Note on the Name Ophel
Ophel is not a name chosen to build a platform or create a persona. In Scripture, Ophel was a rising place near the house of the LORD. The name became a fitting picture of the posture from which these works are written: not ascent toward prominence, but toward nearness; not the building of a name, but the service of Another.
I am not seeking visibility. I am seeking nearness.
If the name is remembered at all, may it point beyond the writer to the mercy of God and the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
May every work faithfully reveal the glory of God, exalt the sufficiency of Christ, shepherd the heart through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and bear fruit in lives increasingly conformed to His image.
Soli Deo Gloria.
