“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” (Proverbs 29:18)

The verse opens with the weight of divine revelation. God has spoken, and His Word is the light by which a life stands, the foundation upon which a home is built, and the anchor that keeps a people from breaking loose into ruin. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105) Without His revealed truth, restraint dissolves. Hearts cast off boundaries. Families lose their footing. A people collapses beneath the weight of its own desires. But where His Word is kept, stability rises. Joy returns. Life flourishes beneath the clarity of divine truth, for “the entrance of Thy words giveth light.” (Psalm 119:130)

Christ stands at the center of this revelation. He is the Word made flesh, the Light that shineth in darkness, the One in whom the Father is perfectly known. “He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.” (John 14:9) To receive Him is to receive the vision that keeps the soul from perishing. To walk in His commandments is to walk in the happiness promised to the one who keeps the law. In Him, the heart is steadied, the mind is cleared, and the will is strengthened. His truth restores what sin unravels, and His presence upholds what life cannot secure on its own. “If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed.” (John 8:31)

Lives stand when Scripture governs them. Homes endure when the Word shapes them. A people is preserved when divine revelation is honored. Vision is not what we imagine; it is what God has spoken. Happy indeed is the one who keeps His Word.
