A Word Fitly Spoken
Count Carefully

“Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:”
— Ecclesiastes 7:27
✦ Golden Insight
“The truth at the heart of this verse”
Wisdom lets truth finish speaking before it reaches a conclusion.
✦
✦ Frame of Silver
“The context and setting that shapes its meaning”
Solomon does not rush to the account. He counts one by one. Wisdom is willing to listen longer, compare carefully, and admit when the whole matter is not yet known.
Haste wants a verdict. Wisdom wants truth. It does not fear arriving at a conclusion; it simply refuses to let confidence outrun what has actually been shown.
✦
✦ Fruit of Christ
“How this truth bears fruit in a life following Christ”
Christ sees the whole account perfectly. Because our life rests in Him, we are free to listen before speaking, examine before judging, and correct ourselves when truth requires it.
The heart being formed by Christ would rather be made true than merely be proved right.
✦
“And the truth held firm.”
— Ophel
